A great deal of thought, research, and creativity goes into every magical routine presented at the Hamner Barber Variety Show. One of the major effects in this year’s production is the magical, multimedia tribute to all Veterans entititled, “Thank You’s Not Enough.” The effect on the audience is always powerful, and many area visitors and locals alike have described it as the greatest Veterans tribute ever to grace a Branson stage.
One might think that a sincere tribute to Veterans would not be possible as part of a production show that primarily features wacky comedy and amazing magical illusions. The reason it does work, however, is that the Hamner Barber Variety Show is not a typical magic and comedy show in any way. Every element of the show is unique and many routines are presented in ways that not only entertain the audience, but also touches them in a deep personal way. Sometimes with positive life changing results.
Two years of intensive research and development went into making this tribute possible, and now that is completed, both Dave Hamner and Jim Barber remain passionate about the subject matter.
Hamner & Barber Go To Washington!
In January of 2010, Dave Hamner and Jim Barber flew to Washington, DC to attend the ABA (American Bus Association) National Convention to promote their show to Motorcoach Groups who travel to Branson. During their visit, they took the opportunity to visit several of the Historic National Monuments including the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall and the Iwo Jima Memorial, which their Branson Veteran’s Tribute pays special honor to at each and every performance of the Hamner Barber Show.
“Dave and I love and appreciate our veterans and active military that made it possible for us to live in a country that honors freedom and allows every citizen the opportunity to achieve great things.” - Jim Barber
Visiting the various memorials in our Nation’s capital was both inspiring and humbling to the entertainers.
“Jim and I have a renewed sense of purpose after experiencing the powerful emotions that came over us while visiting these important memorials. We feel a strong duty to continue to demonstrate pride for our Veterans as well as honor our active military members who have voluntarily put their lives in harms way to defend our great country.” - Dave Hamner
Dave and Jim were accompanied on their trip to Washington, DC by Duane Williams, the Groups and Motorcoach Marketing Director for the Hamner Barber Theater.
Duane attends the ABA and several other Group Travel conventions annually and actively promotes the Hamner Barber Variety Show as an important addition to any group entertainment agenda when traveling to Branson.
Now in it’s seventh season, the show has become one of the highly requested entertainment shows for motorcoach groups traveling to Branson for a fun and magical vacation experience.
The Hamner Barber tribute to Veterans is just one of the many elements that make the Hamner Barber Show unique among all other Branson attractions. The original comedy ventriloquism of Jim Barber along with the one of a kind magical illusions of the Hamners creates a memorable show that is designed to entertain audiences of every age group.
A DVD video of the Veteran’s tribute “Thank You’s Not Enough” is currently in production, and is expected to be released sometime around Veteran’s Week of this year. The video includes the original title song written and produced by talented musician and songwriter Bobby Hamilton. Vocals are sung live by Dave Hamner and Jim Barber with featured interviews with several survivors of the World War II Battle of Iwo Jima. These are true American heroes who desire to have their personal experiences shared for the benefit of generations to come.
Further announcements regarding the new video will be sent out via the free Hamner Barber Newsletter as well as posted on the official Hamner Barber Theater website at HamnerBarber.com.
